In Conversation with Saskia Sassen

The language of expulsion

The language of expulsion

Session blurb

How does the language we use to describe global issues interact with those issues? Saskia Sassen, a leading sociologist whose work focuses on globalisation and global human migration, discusses the extent to which the conceptual categories we use to describe problematic global conditions are outdated, and explores what that means today in terms of how to re-frame those conversations in academic/political/cultural spheres in order to achieve positive change.
